I thought I'd show you one of my most recent make-up looks, a much more subtle daytime look than my previous one! I bought the Clinique Chubby Stick as a complete impulse buy when buying my High Impact mascara, but I'm so glad I did as I love it! I have a few of the Revlon sticks too that I love, I shall definitely be reviewing them sometime soon :) Most of make-up looks are similar to this, but often I won't wear foundation or powder, purely as I cannot be bothered. For a beauty blogger, I'm pretty rubbish. If I can go without wearing make-up, I will! When I do wear make-up - which is several days a week, I usually wear mascara/eyeliner & something on lips, but nothing else haha. Any other beauty bloggers like this?
I love wearing make-up and buying it and reviewing it, but sometimes, I just want to be natural. I'm blessed with relatively good skin, but if I wear foundation too much I break out! :(
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got lovely gifts! I ate far too much, as I imagine most of us did, yet till managed to find a space for tiramusu and lots of biscuits haha!
I thought I'd show you a Lush bath bomb I used the other day - "Twilight"
Even in the shop with all the other scents this smells gorgeous! Full of lavender and tonka oils, this is perfect for relaxing after a stressful day shopping the sales as many of you will probably be doing today!
As you can see, it is full of colour, changing from that pink to baby blue halfway through, making my bath a lovely deep lilac. There are also tiny bits of iridescent glitter weaved throughout, luckily however, they don't seem to transfer to your skin or the bathtub, they just makes the water look pretty!
This is the first time I've used the Twilight bath bomb, and I'm not disappointed in the slightest, definitely a purchase I shall be making again!
I've had this particular lip liner for a little while now, and it's quickly become one of my most used lip products.
'Brooding Plum' is a gorgeous deep dark red that is well pigmented, doesn't dry, and is soft on your lips - which is good, as I've used many lip liners that are sharp and hard!
Although it's technically a lip liner, I always wear it as a lipstick, it's too pretty a colour not to! It lasts a few hours before it needs to be reapplied, which considering the price, I reckon it's pretty good.
This lip liner is £1 (I knowww! £1! How fantastic!) and if I'm correct, there are 4 different colours, although don't quote me on it ha!

I thought I'd show the make-up I wore to go Christmas shopping yesterday. Although, as I wrote this post last night, technically, I wore this make-up today ;)
Sorry for the horrendous selfie shot, I can't get any good light in my room ever when I try and place my camera anywhere, so I had to do it like that!
I bought the lip crayon on Tuesday, and I'm in love, I shall post a proper review of it next week sometime :) I want to review the Clinique mascara too, I love it so so much.
I'm a big fan of eyeliner flicks, but I'm not so good at them, so I was extremely pleased when they actually worked for once.
I think this make-up look is actually more of a nighttime look than a daytime look, but I wanted to wear my new lipstick and it's Christmas so I thought to pair bright lips AND made-up eyes, how daring of me ;)
Incidentally, my hair is usually poker straight naturally, but I french plaited it last night to it went nice and wavy, what do you think? :)
I've seen the tag on quite a few blogs, so I thought I'd join in and do it too! I love Christmas so much. I got the tag from this lovely blog :)
1.) What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
I love how there are pretty lights everywhere and how gorgeous a place can look when it's adorned with decorations. I get so excited about spending Christmas with my family and having a gorgeous dinner and exchanging presents. The excitement is wonderful. I'm almost 20 years old yet I get as excited as a child.
2. What is your favourite make up look for festive the season?
I generally never wear a lot of make-up - eyeliner, mascara, lipstick and of course nail polish are my staples, but I wear more eyeshadow, I like a bit of sparkle, and a nice bright lipstick. A lot of glitter nail polish is necessary too!
3. Real tree or fake tree?
I've not had a real tree for years and years, I was very young, so I always remember fake trees, but I would love to get a real tree one year.
4. Giving presents or receiving presents?
I love both. Who doesn't love getting presents? But at the same time, I love choosing presents and wrapping and seeing their faces when you've got something they genuinely love!
5. Do you open presents Christmas morning or eve / evening?
Christmas morning! I could not wait any longer to open them! It's one of the first things I do when I get up!
6. Handmade Christmas cards or bought?
I tend to buy them, although I love homemade cards, a lot of people don't feel the same!
7. What is your favourite Christmas film?
Elf, The Holiday or Love Actually - the latter two not even reaaally being Christmas films. That being said, I recently watched Jack Frost, loved it and cried my eyes out SO much. Has anyone else seen Jack Frost, and did you cry?
8. What's your favourite Christmas food?
I don't know a favourite, I love allllll the Christmas food, especially Christmas dinner! I don't eat mince pies or Christmas cake/pudding however.
9. What's your favourite Christmas song?
Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl & "Carol of the Bells" !
10. What's your favourite Christmas memory?
I don't know if I have a specific favourite, I always love Christmas!
I would love to know if you've done this tag, if so, link me to it in the comments please!
I'm a massive fan of glitter nail polish, and as Christmas is edging closer and closer, I decided, to make my nails festive, to paint them with every glitter polish I own! Luckily, I own ten! I'm in love with them and can't stop staring at them, I've got quite a few compliments on them too which is lovely!
I haven't named all of the polishes here because there are too many, but if you want to know the colour of any of them, ask me either in the comment box or on twitter (@sirensandbells) and I'll let you know :)
What's your favourite nail? I think mine is the red!
Talking of Christmas, how's everyone's Christmas shopping going? Mine's terrible, I'll have to pop out Monday and do the main bit then, I HATE the crowds though! x
Despite Barry M's Foil Effects polishes being out for quite a while now, it's only in the past few months I have noticed the two polishes - gold and silver. I already own a normal gold and silver, and although I love it, when I was perusing my local Boots I liked the less glittery look the foil effects give. So I caved in and bought, and I am not disappointed. Needing two coats to be completely opaque, and lasting 3/4 days without chipping, I was impressed with this polish considering the price. I think it makes a nice change from a normal gold polish, and I love the shiny effect it gives too, perfect for Christmas! I think I shall definitely be buying the silver version at some point too!
What do you think? Do you like this, or prefer normal gold polish?
I'm all for loving yourself and loving who you are, so I found this infographic a friend showed me very interesting.
What do you think? Do you love yourself more when you're dolled up and able to change how you look, or do you accept yourself regardless of what products you use?
It's that time of year, where you dust off your sparkliest Christmas dress, wear more sequins than your entire Christmas tree and get entirely obliterated on eggnog and mulled wine. Yay!
Keeping in with the Christmas spirit, I decided to show you the most Christmassy dresses and shoes I'm lusting after at the moment.
I want to buy all of the dresses and shoes (even though I don't even wear high heels!) but I have to say, I think the first and last dresses are my most favourite! and those flame licked black shoes? I need them in my life!
What are you lusting after this week? And are you all excited for Christmas? I am! x
Ps. If you click on the link, you'll be directed to the Polyvore page for the picture where you can find all the pretty sequinned things :)
1.) I love this phone case, I've been looking for a galaxy type case for a little while now, and came across this one on Etsy!
2/3.) I know, I know. Who puts mugs on their Christmas list? ME. THAT'S WHO. I drink more tea than any sane human should, so naturally, I need cool mugs to house my hot perfect beverage. The Great Gatsby is one of my favourite books, so this mug is necessary for me! There are loads of other books on the website too, check it out! 4.) I can wish as much as I want, I won't be getting a Mulberry Alexa any time soon. But still, I am definitely wishing for this, so on the list it goes! 5.) Any top with a Harry Potter reference is a winner in my books, and this top is fantastic!
I know I usually post wishlists of mainly clothes, but I've just emailed my mum my Christmas list so I thought I'd share some of of what is on it. A lot of things on my list are books or DVD's, so I chose not to post them as there are far too many! What's on your Christmas list? x
Rolling out of bed and putting
together the perfect ensemble for the office is always something of a
challenge. Whilst dressing for work is usually pretty simple for men – with the
main decision being ‘which tie goes with this suit?’ – women have a greater
variety of options to choose from, and striking the right balance between
comfort and style can be tricky. Here are some tips to help you get it
right for your nine to five:
Invest in layers
- You may not
be able to control the office heating or air conditioning, so it’s wise to plan
for a range of temperatures. Teaming a light cardigan with your shirt
gives you the option to take off the extra layer if the radiators kick into
action – or wrap up if the air-con goes into overdrive. Alternatively, throw a
pashmina over your shoulders, or knot a scarf around your neck: two stylish and
practical accessories that it’s also easy to keep discreetly in an office
Don’t give up your
individual style – Yes,
it’s important to look professional at work and dress appropriately for the
office, but that doesn’t mean that you have to completely forgo your personal
tastes. If you find plain shirts dull, opt for a blouse in a chic floral or
paisley print. Or, if you prefer your tailoring to have a bit more fashion
edge; rather than opting for a classic suit jacket, try an oversized boyfriend
blazer. It’s definitely possible to look smart and on-trend at the same time –
look to celebs like Kate Middleton for sophisticated fashion inspiration.
Choose the right shoes – Although you may be in love with a
particular pair of six-inch heels, this sadly doesn’t mean that they’re
suitable for the office. Uncomfortable shoes can cause hours of needless
distraction and pain, so make sure that you’re realistic about your shoe
choices. Flats and low kitten heels are always a safe bet, but if you’d really
like some extra height then make sure your heels have a chunky platform sole
for extra comfort. If you’re planning on investing
in a new work wardrobe, apply
for a Gold Card from
American Express to make your money go further. With American Express rewards
cards you can earn
exclusive membership points as you spend, which can be redeemed for fabulous
rewards like flights, hotel stays, gifts and more.
1. I've heard amazing things about Brow Zings, I determined to buy this brow kit at some point to keep my eyebrows in check!
2. The entire O.P.I Skyfall/James Bond collection looks amazing, I couldn't choose just one that I wanted most, I want them all!
3. I love wearing much darker lipstick in Autumn/Winter, and Topshop's new 'Wicked' lipstick is perfect! My Uni town doesn't have a make-up stand in the local Topshop, but when I go home I'm definitely going to get it!
4. All of these nail polishes are so prettyyyyy. I keep seeing reviews of them and they all look amazing.
5. I bought a Clinique chubby stick this week actually - that'll I review soon - and I love it so much I want more. I wasn't so sure about them before I bought it, but so far I love it.
What's on your wishlist this week? And has anyone got any of the new OPI collection yet?
I have used many, many different kinds of eyeliner during the last 5 or so years, and every time, I come back to this.
I experimented a lot when I was younger, even with PINK liquid eyeliner - which, yes, is just as bad as it sounds - but when I started wearing black liquid liner, I realised that, actually, it didn't look completely terrible and it was very easy to apply.
This was the first eyeliner I used. I loved it, but tried some others, just in case I could find a better one...and I couldn't. I'm not saying this is the best liquid eyeliner there is, but it's my favourite one, and it's incredibly well-priced at £2.99.
As you can say, it's an inkwell pot - which I prefer to pen liners, and is extremely well pigmented, with a thin brush. You can alter how thick you want your eyeliner very easily, push slightly harder when applying and you get a thicker line. The brush is soft, so it doesn't hurt at all - unlike a few I have tried!
I have always bought it in brown, I think black would be a bit too harsh as I have such pale skin!
It easily lasts all day, although it does fade slightly by the end of the day, which is expected! I find it's very easy to remove, it's not at all waterproof - although there is a waterproof version available if that's what you need, but I personally prefer being able to wipe my make-up off as easily as possible!
I can't see my changing my liquid eyeliner any time soon, I love this one!
Have you used this before and if so, what did you think?
Also, tell me your make-up disasters! I'm intrigued!
1. I definitely don't need another coat, but this one is gorgeous and looks so cosy!
2. I don't own a pair of jeans with studs on, despite my love of studs, definitely going to get these at some point, I need studded jeans in my life!
3. Who doesn't love a Christmas jumper? I love Christmas and all things Christmassy, and polar bears are incredibly cute. I need to stock up on a few Christmas jumpers haha 4/5 I need more pretty things, especially nail varnish (cough cough)
Sorry this post is up late! I've had the worst 24 hours and on top of that, our internet has been buggering about since yesterday! It's definitely got colder over the past few days, and with the new John Lewis and Coca Cola adverts (squeeeee) Christmas is definitely upon us. What do you think? Do you love celebrating Christmas early, or do you think it should wait? Personally, I think Christmas is a two month thing, all throughout November and December I get excited!
I thought I'd let you all in on the new polishes I have bought recently, even though I needed none of them! I've been very good lately and hardly bought any, and then I decided I needed some more, and so these were bought. The Nails Inc polish came free in Glamour Magazine, I don't know if the colour is only available with the magazine or readily available?
I'm currently wearing the Barry M gelly polish, and I love it. I will do a review on it soon.
Would you like to see a review of any of the other polishes? Let me know in the comments :)
This is a scheduled post, it's really 7pm on Tuesday, and I'm listening to Christmas music! I'm sorry for the quick post, but I've been very busy this week, Monday and Thursday I've had/got exams, and Wednesday (when you may be reading this) it's mine and OH's anniversary! So a bit swept off my feet! But after this week I shall not be so busy, hooorah!
Have you started listening to Christmas music yet? I get so excited about Christmas!
1. I have found I have only one jumper dress, and as it is short-sleeved it's not that efficient for this time of year, so when perusing River Island I found this beauty, I definitely need this in my life.
2. I've been looking at cute tops on Topshop, ASOS, River Island and New Look, and I love nothing more than this cute ghost tee, plus at £9.99, definitely affordable.
3. I love me some studded clothing, and if it's weather-appropriate, even better!
4. I still don't know how I feel about flatforms in general, but I really really like these and the leopard print wedge bit, and while I may never be brave enough to buy or wear these, I can still want.
5 & 6. As a female, I do not have the ability to grow a mustache and help the Movember cause, so instead I can buy cool jewelry like this! Do you know anyone who's doing Movember? My housemate is, and plans a Charlie Chaplin mustache for the end of the month! What's your stance on mustache, do you like? Or not so much?
Right, as I am currently writing this post as a diversion from revising for my Uni phase test tomorrow, I shall now depart and carry on being bored by Huckleberry Finn!
I thought, to coincide with Halloween, I would wear a polish that was a little more spooky and dark than some of my others, and I thought that this one was probably perfect - with the exception of black of course. As I'm pretty diabolical at nail art, I have stuck to just one colour!
This polish is a gorgeous dark, dark burgundy colour, and one of my favourite polishes. A perfect colour for A/W I find, and even better for Halloween!
I've had this polish for about 2 years, and it's one I forget about for a while, and then rediscover and absolutely love!
Are any of you doing anything for Halloween? I know many people would have celebrated over the weekend however haha. I shall not be doing anything but having a quiet night in with my boyfriend and giving trick or treaters the odd sweet!
There are many benefits of using a skin moisturiser, making it an important part of your daily skincare routine. As there are literally hundreds of moisturisers to choose from, finding one that works well for you can be a difficult task and it’s essential that you apply a moisturiser which is specifically designed for your skin type.
Once you ‘ve found a moisturiser that suits your skin type, you will start reaping the benefits of using it. If you’re unsure of what these benefits are, take a look at the following top five benefits of regularly moisturising your skin:
Skin moisturisers act as a barrier between our skin and the molecules in the air. In doing this they prevent water from leaving the skin and help to maintain its natural moisture by not allowing water to evaporate.
Protects our skin from the sun
It’s well-established within the world of medicine and skincare that the sun is one of the most damaging influences on our skin. To counteract this, most modern skin moisturisers have sunscreen incorporated within them to help protect our skin from harmful UV rays.
Johnson’s Face Care range, for example, are bursting with hydrating ingredients as well as sunscreen. It’s recommended that you apply a moisturiser which contains a sunscreen of at least SPF15 to ensure your skin is adequately protected at all times.
Modern moisturisers, such as those in the Johnson’s Beauty range, include
a range of vitamins and minerals that are found naturally in the skin
and therefore work in harmony with it. In providing the skin with
additional vitamins and minerals, moisturisers improve your skin tone, making it appear more radiant and healthy.
Diminishes fine line and wrinkles
Because they plump out the skin, moisturisers are proficient in diminishing fine line and wrinkles. It’s imperative that you apply a skin moisturiser that is tailored to your skin type to optimise its ability to reduce these unwanted marks.
I ended up with this lipstick entirely by accident a few months ago. My mum bought it for herself, but completely got the colour wrong - she was looking for a dark pinky-brown, which this is not. When looking through her lipsticks, I saw this and she let me have it. Which is fantastic, as it is currently my most worn lipstick. A gorgeous pinky nude, this colour is perfect for when you want to wear lipstick, but you don't want it to be too 'in your face.' I think this is quite similar to the MUA Juicy lipstick I posted about a few months back, but the Avon lipstick is pinker in comparison.
I've never really had a look at Avon lipsticks, not being able to look at the colour until it's arrived is definitely a downside for me, so I never made the effort to see if I liked any of the colours. However, since getting my hands on this and loving it, I think I will make more of an effort to look on the website and see if there are any more I like!
Have you ever perused/bought Avon for lipsticks? Or in fact for any of their products? What did you think?
