Essie's 'Cocktail Bling'

Surprise surprise, I'm posting about nail polish ;)
This is one of MANY new polishes I have purchased on a whim over the past 4 weeks or so.

Cocktail Bling is cute moody grey/blue colour, that is in keeping with the current weather! Not a Spring/Summer polish really, but I love it regardless of whether or not it is season relevant.

I find that a lot of Essie polishes can be pretty sheer and take 3 or even 4 coats to become opaque, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover this polish was opaque in just two coats. I popped a shiny top coat on top of it, but it is pretty shiny to begin with any. As with most Essie polishes, it lasts a few days without chipping.

Have you got this, what do you think?

Smooch Lipstick in 'Inferno'

Another new lipstick to show you today! Today's lipstick is the gorgeous Smooch lipstick in 'Inferno.'
This lipstick is not one I chose myself actually, but a lipstick I got in a goody bag.
To begin with, I was pretty intimidated by this lipstick, presuming there was no way I could pull off such a bold colour, but after trying it out, I have decided that I love it.
It's a bright coral lipstick, that is more orange than pink, and it is amazing. It doesn't dry my lips out at all, and has a staying power of quite a few hours, which impressed me considering its price tag of £7.50!
This is a gorgeous summer colour, and if you're brave enough to brave the fiery orange, it is a brilliant lipstick!

Topshop's Lipstick in 'All About Me'

Sorry for the terrible blogging pattern of late! I've been revising an awful lot for my exams - my last one being tomorrow (!) so hopefully I can get back into the swing of things soon!

Today I thought I'd show a new lipstick I've got recently, Topshop's 'All About Me'. This is a lipstick that has caught my eye for a little while now, so I finally bit the bullet and purchased the pretty thing. It is a very vivid, almost neon pink, that applies easily, if not a bit dry. It is a LOT brighter than the picture gives credit for, and I love it!

As I mentioned, yes, it can be a bit drying. Not overly so, but you can definitely tell the difference between the consistency of this and the consistency of other, not-so-drying lipsticks. If you're one who has a tendency to get dry lips, you may want to apply a little lip balm before application.

Overall, I LOVE this lipstick, I am a sucker for bright pinks and this makes no exception! Perfect for summer, this shall be adorning my lips a lot in the near future!

Weekend Wishlist

Weekend Wishlist

1 2 3 4

So this week I thought I'd do a bit of a different wishlist, and combine an outfit together instead of random pieces. I've chosen to get all my pieces from House of Fraser this week, because they've got some gorgeous stuff in at the moment, look at the shoes!
I love the lower half of this dress, with the black stripes and sheer panels, a bit of a difference to the normal LBD we all know and love.
Despite the large pricetag, I love Nails Inc Polish. I can't justify buying many of them, but this is a polish I may have to get my hands on!
I don't own enough green shoes or bags, despite it being one of my favourite colours. I still can't walk in heels, but I can wish!

What do you think of this week's wishlist?

Review: Maybelline's Colour Show in 'Urban Turquoise'

When I saw this new range in Boots at only £2.99 this week, I could not resist picking a few up. As well as a nude I've not yet tried, I picked this pretty turquoise colour.

Opaque in two coats, this shiny polish made me unable to stop looking at my nails. I picked it up on a whim, whilst not being too sure if I actually needed this colour. After adorning my nails with it for a few days, I have decided that yes, I do.

The only downside being...IT STAINS YOUR NAILS. Potentially, this is my fault. I don't wear a base coat because, well, I'm lazy. Sooo my nails are stained green. I look like a corpse. Next time I use this polish, I will most certainly be using a base coat and hoping the same mistake doesn't happen again!

Have you tried any of this range, what do you think? x

Benefit's 'They're Real!'

As I'm sure many of you are aware, Elle magazine is giving away the trial size version of Benefit's hit mascara, 'They're Real!'
Many people have tried this mascara before, but I was put off by the £16 price tag and the knowledge that I already have a gazillion mascaras waiting to be loved in my make-up bag. However, as this trial sized version - worth £9.50 - was going free in a magazine I like anyway, well, I couldn't resist!

I didn't expect too much from this mascara to be honest, as I have heard that it clumps easily and doesn't do as it promised, but I was pleasantly surprised!

It lengthened my lashes a lot, more than I expected, and had good staying power throughout the day. When it came to removing it in the evening, it was trickier to remove than a lot of mascaras, but then again it proves the staying power of it I guess!

I'm not sure if this is a mascara I would go out on a wing to purchase, but I'm definitely glad I have it, and if I can get it on offer, I shall be snapping it up!

Hair Removal Methods

As summer rears its beautiful sunny head, we become far more aware of removing body hair from ourselves. I know, it’s not the best subject, but it’s essential. When the sun is feeling warm on your face and you go to change into your summer skirt, and then you stop. “Have I shaved my legs?” No. No you haven’t. Do you really want to go through the kerfuffle of shaving your legs now? Probably not. It is tricky however. Although there are many different methods of hair removal out there, what’s best?

Shaving? It’s not painful…until you catch your leg without realising and end up with a cut on your ankle that won’t stop bleeding. You have to repeat it every few days and it’s a hassle.

Waxing? There isn’t as much upkeep, no, but it is quite painful and more expensive than shaving.

Depilation? I’ve tried it once. It hurt so much I vowed to never do it again! It’s like an extreme version of plucking!

So, it would see that the most common options either require a lot of upkeep, or are just plain painful.

But I’m forgetting one of course.

Laser hair removal. It only needs to be done every 4-6 weeks – similar to waxing but without the pain! It’s easy, you don’t have to do any of it yourself. It is more versatile too. Whereas the three options I mentioned above are only options for certain parts of the body, laser hair removal can be used on all different parts of the body that has visible hair. So, if you have a patch of hair that you detest and the thought of going for a wax fills you with dread, this may well be your option.
