I don't know if it's the hot weather or the stress of a new job, but oh boy has my skin been bad lately. I do not get spots. I just don't really. Didn't when I was a teenager and don't now. But for some reason, for the past three weeks my body has decided to keep popping the blighters up on my face, no matter how much water I drink or how much I avoid base makeup. As someone who is used to quite a clear complexion, the constant redness and bumpiness that accompany my spots has been getting me down. I always double cleanse in the evening and use a face wash in the morning, but as well as that I was using a face mask every few days - either Liz Earle's Brightening Treatment or REN's Glycoactic Radiance Renewal. They both made my skin feel nice and I normally love them, but it just wasn't cutting it.
Sick of the way my skin was, I decided to pop into Lush and see what mask they recommended, I'd never used one of their face masks, but heard amazing things from a few people and decided to try it, as Lush never usually lets me down. I was greeted by a lovely, lovely woman (Lush has the best customer service of any shop I have ever entered) and we talked about my skin and my routine. She decided that 'BB Seaweed' and 'Love Lettuce' were probably best for me, and I decided to go with Love Lettuce.
With honey, almonds and lavender, Love Lettuce promises to "brighten your complexion with nutrient-rich agar seaweed gel, soothing and moisturising honey and almond oil, and gently exfoliating almond shells. This mask is simply fragranced with French lavender, which has a calming effect on the mind and helps to balance the skin’s sebum production."
I popped it on after keeping it in the fridge for a few hours, and left it on for the appropriate time (10-15 minutes).
When taking it off, I really felt the exfoliation of the almond shells - I recommend you don't put it anywhere near your delicate eye area as it is too rough for that bit - I made that mistake and was a little sore. Despite looking a bit of a murky colour, I could smell the lavender as I was washing it off my face and as a lover of lavender I was very pleased.
I have to say, I wasn't expecting much but after using it a few times in the past week, I am very pleased. The redness on my face has gone down a bit, and although my spots aren't completely gone, they're definitely diminishing. The best thing, however, is how soft my skin is. I cannot stop stroking it, it is so lovely!
I recommend whole heartedly if you're suffering with your skin at the moment!
Have you tried Love Lettuce before? What did you think?
