I've spent over a year lusting after Russian Red. Swatching it whenever I went into MAC, adding it my wishlists, both on the blog and in my head, so I decided on Pay Day, that I should buy it. I love bold colours, and I knew I wanted it, so I bought it. And boy am I glad that I did. At £15.50, it's not cheap, but I bit the bullet.
For those not familiar with MAC lipsticks, let me tell you, they are worth the price. The sleek packaging, gorgeous vanilla-esque scent and smooth formula make for a fantastic product. Russian Red is a full bodied, blue toned red, perfect for my yellow toned skin. In the past I've been worried that I'm too pale to pull off red lipstick, but I now believe that there is the right shade of red for EVERYONE.
Russian Red is matte, but not too drying - although if you have super chapped lips, it will show up, so I recommend a slick of lip balm beforehand. I had to reapply it once throughout the day - after about 6 hours and a big lunch, which I'd say is pretty decent. Thankfully it didn't collect around the outline of my lips, so no 90's lipliner effect for me! Instead, it faded equally all over, which is preferable! It does, unfortunately, leave its mark on mugs, but we can't have everything!
It has easily become my favourite red lipstick, and I can't see that changing any time soon.
Have you tried Russian Red? What do you think?
