Garnier Micellar Water

So Micellar Water has been doing the rounds on blogs for a few years now. A while back it was the big hype in skincare and everyone was using it. For some reason, I didn't really jump on the hype. I bought one or two and used them, but I didn't understand why everyone was going crazy for them. It calmed down, we all got on with our lives and micellar water became another blogger trend that quietly blended into the background and I didn't think about it again.

Then I was perusing Boots a few weeks ago and saw this for £0.99! Now I like a good bargain, and 99p for a cleanser is fantastic. So obviously I picked it up.

I've never trusted most makeup removers with my eye make-up, choosing instead to use remover specially formulated for eyes, but since this said it could, I decided to give it a go. And I was pleasantly surprised! I expected it to sting or only remove my makeup partially, but it removed all my makeup - mascara and all - with minimal rubbing and no stinging!

I have oily, sensitive skin and this hasn't aggravated it at all, thankfully! I've used it every day for a few weeks and no adverse reactions so far!

I'll definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out, considering it's a small bottle, that'll be quite soon!

Have you tried this? What did you think?

Great British Coffee Week: Are you more hipster or yoga bunny?

HOF Coffee Stats_OUTREACH-v3

So, which category do you fall into? I am a big coffee lover, but according to this survey, I'm classed in the 'Gossip' category, however, I'd like to think I'm not a gossip! my drink of choice is a hazelnut latte, I like the nutty, Christmassy taste. Either that, or a chai latte with 2 shots of espresso. If you haven't tried it, you must.

I'm trying to get away from instant coffee and make my own a bit more, I bought a cafetiere last year and I've been using it more recently, but that being said I want to get a new, fancier cafetiere. I've been perusing House of Fraser's range, and now I want a Nespresso machine! I'm tempted by this Magimix machine, I love the idea of having the milk frother, which I've not seen on many of the machines I've been looking at!

Let me know what you think if you have a one of these new fandangled Nespresso machines!
And tell me, what's your favourite coffee order?

The Body Shop British Rose Soap

I am a big fan of soap. I like all things that smell nice, and in the past few months that has meant I've bought a lot of hand soap. I normally peruse Lush but I happened to be in The Body Shop a few weeks ago and saw this little beauty.
I'm a massive fan of anything rose scented and thought the packaging was cute so I picked it up to see how it fared.
For reference, I have very dry skin and I wash my hands a lot.

The Body Shop's British Rose Soap promises to cleanse and exfoliate your skin, leaving it clean and silky soft. It contains real crushed rose petals in it - which you can feel and smell, which is a nice touch. It's definitely exfoliating, which isn't something I often get with a soap, but I do like it. My hands are left feeling softer than before and the scent stays with me - but it's subtle enough to not be overpowering.
If you like the scent of rose, then this is a winner. It retails for only £4 too, which is a good price! I've been using it multiple times a day for a week and it's not seemed to have shrunk at all yet, which I am impressed by.

I shall definitely be picking up a few more items from this range in the near future, probably the hand cream first!

Have you tried anything from this range?

Experiment Outcome: I let my mother dress me for a week

I survived! Yes that's right, I let my mother dress me for a week and we both survived!

I decided to do this because I'd seen it floating around Buzzfeed a few times, and I was interested to see how my mum would dress me compared to how I dress myself, if she would put things together that I wouldn't have thought of, or if she would dress me terribly etc! In order to give me a bit of control, I was also in charge of what she wore - you can see what she has to say at the bottom of this post!

Now I usually wear either jeans and a t shirt or clashing prints, there's a reason that I'm a beauty blogger and not a fashion blogger! Keep that in mind!

As soon as this outfit was picked I was bit disgruntled. Don't get me wrong, I love burgundy. I love this blazer, and I love this dress. But I do NOT love them together! I don't like matching colours together, and so this was a nightmare for me. It had worn off by this point, but she had chosen a burgundy lipstick for me that day too. Unimpressed. I am, however, completely un-surprised by this choice. I know how much she loves matching colours together and she has been itching for me to wear these two pieces together in I don't know how long! Solid 4/10, it was very comfortable, so that's a good thing!

I had an important meeting on the Tuesday, so I was hoping mum would put me in something professional, and I was pleasantly surprised. Most of my wardrobe is dark, so this suits me, but I like the pop of colour the top brings to the outfit. I'm not a massive fan of the blazer but I wanted to look business-like and this definitely works. I would have chosen something like this myself, 7/10.

This is definitely my favourite outfit of the week, that skirt is perhaps the most worn item in my wardrobe and I love it. Plus mum paired it with a black top and grey cardigan, no more matching colours, yay!
I love the scarf too, the colours in it are beautiful and as I've recently been able to shed my massively thick winter scarf, I've been wearing this more. 9/10 - well done!

Thursday was a casual day of errand running for me, so I'm glad mum put me jeans (at last). I love jeans. I wear them most of the time, so I feel very comfortable in them. The jumper top is also a staple for me, it's so soft! 8/10
You'll notice that from now on I've cut my face out of the picture - I wore no makeup for the rest of the week, and you guys don't need in your brains!

Another day of jeans, huzzah! This time, black jeans! Again, another day of errand running, so I'm glad for the comfort of jeans. It's at this point that it occurs to me that I love burgundy, and next to black, it's the most frequent colour in my wardrobe. Therefore it makes sense for there to be at least one other outfit in the week to feature it! You can't go wrong with jeans and a comfy jumper top, and the outfits of the last two days are very similar to what I'd dress myself in on a normal day. 8/10

I spent Saturday having a lazy day in my pajama's, so Sunday is the last day of this experiment!
Spring has certainly sprung today, so I think the outfit worked very well, I felt a bit uncomfortable by all the colour however. Mum chose a skirt I don't wear very much because the colour puts me off a bit! It is a beautiful skirt though, and I liked the combination of the mint of the top with it too. 7/10!
Overall, I think mum did pretty well - I was worried she'd put me in uncomfortable clothes or make me matchy matchy for the whole week, so I was pleasantly surprised! That being said, there's no way I'd let her do it again - I didn't like not being in control of my clothes one little bit! I'll definitely wear the floral skirt a bit more, so that's a plus!
As I mentioned earlier, this week I also chose her outfits too...

My mum HATES wearing skirts or dresses, so I only managed to put her in a skirt once in the week...I dreaded to think what would happen if I did more than one day! She also only seems to have black or dark patterned trousers, so if I was in charge of her wardrobe I would definitely get some brighter colours in there too! Now I did have less flexibility with her as she had work 5/6 days, so I was limited as to what I could put her in! Sunday however, I could dress her casually, so I made her wear this shirt which is gorgeous...and she never wears. She doesn't know why either. I love a checked shirt! So apart from the skirt and shirt, I generally picked outfits for her that she'd pick for herself (or so I thought). That being said she mentioned that she normally wears jumpers instead of a blouse/cardigan combo for the sake of ease, so I'm hoping this week reminded her of the some of the pretty tops she owns!

What do you think, would you let a parent choose your clothes for a week?

It also occurred to me that you cannot see her face at all during this post! So here's a photo of my mum and last summer!

Experiment: I'm going to let my mother dress me for a week

So despite my mum and I being incredibly close, she has not chosen my clothes for me since I was a child. A young child at that. I love clothes, always have, and decided on my wardrobe from a young age, so it's been years since my mum has had a say in what I wear.

Well this week, that's going to change.

For some odd reason, I've decided it would be fun for my mum to choose my outfits for the next 7 days. In turn, I also get to choose her outfits, in part so she doesn't go too wild on my wardrobe! I'm interested to see what she pairs together and how her style for me differs for my style to myself - and the same goes for what I choose for her. I'm HOPING this doesn't end in tears, and you'll have to stay tuned for next week when I give you the run down on what happened in the week!

For the sake of fairness, I have made a few rules.

1. No refusing, unless it doesn't fit.
2. No changing halfway through the day.
3. No hints!

And that's the three rules. I'm hoping this week will show me more outfit choices that I wouldn't have thought of before. Or maybe I'll just feel uncomfortable all week...we'll see!

I may post a mid-week update of this, and I will definitely be posting at the end of the week to tell you all how it went!

I'll also be posting about it on my Twitter and Facebook throughout the week, so keep an eye out! :)

Let me know if you've ever done anything like this before!

March Favourites

It's come to that time of the month again! I know, I know, this year is going ridiculously quick and now we're heading into the second quarter! Eek!
Here's what I've been loving this month...

The sun is shining brightly most days now (for the time being...) so I've been switching up my regular perfume (Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf) for Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh. I love it, it's a gorgeous fresh scent, perfect for Spring! I'm in the market for a new perfume so if you any recommendations, please let me know!

I've recently got back into Benefit's Gimme Brow - I recently had my brows waxed and tinted so they don't need as much doing to them, therefore this little product is perfect! It gives enough coverage to make my brows look fuller without looking like I've done too much to them.

Now you can't see the colour of this lipstick, but it's Urban Decay's Matte Revolution lipstick in 'Menace', the most gorgeous fuchsia pink, it's vivid and perfect for Spring!

After not wearing eyeliner for much - if any - of Winter, I got back into it this month, and find myself picking up Avon's Super Shock Gel Liner in Black. I own SO many eyeliners but I always return to this one - it's a solid favourite in my life!

Of course, Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Oil is on here this month too. I raved about it in a review a few weeks back and I'm loving it just as much now! I'm using it on my hands and hair the most this week, but it's a great all-rounder!

What's on your monthly favourites this March? Send me your links please! :-)
