NKD Waxing Salon

Some people leave them bare, some people pluck, some people thread. I am for waxing all the way. Of course, I'm talking about our brows. I too was a victim of the over-plucking teenage years of the Noughties and now I look after them fiercely. Which does mean I've gone to my fair share of waxing salons. If a waxer gets my brows wrong once, I won't go again. They're too precious to me!

So when NKD Wax Salon popped up on my twitter I knew I had to give them a shot, I was looking for a new salon, plus their newsletters are fantastic.

My brows before:

And after:

I was immediately impressed when I went in the salon, it was a clean, airy space that was really friendly. Everyone there was professional and I felt attended to by whoever I spoke to. I've been to salons where it feels that the waxer is trying to do two things at once, and I hate it - I don't want someone going near my brows when they're preoccupied!

My waxing therapist Amy was professional and really friendly, she asked me what I wanted from my brows and I could tell that she was listening and would do as I asked instead of her own thing like I've experienced in the past with waxing.

Although waxing will hurt, her precise way of doing it made the pain lesser than I've experienced in the past, which was a relief, because I've had some terribly painful experiences with my poor brows!

Overall, I was super impressed with the service I received, and straight away booked in for another appointment with them to get my brows redone! I think I have finally found a salon I can use as a 'regular' place, yay!

Although I got my brows tinted and waxed, they offer a whole range of waxing for both men and women - go check them out!

My pick of the primers

20160519_130946

For most of my make-up wearing life, I didn't wear a primer. I thought it was an unnecessary addition to my makeup routine and decided that I'd rather spend the money on more lipsticks. Then I saw the error of my ways, primer is a great addition to my makeup and now it's a staple, so I thought I'd show you my collection!

Benefit's Porefessional and The Body Shop's Instablur are two very similar primers, they glide on smoothly, minimise pores (as the names suggest) and keep my foundation on my face for longer. As much as I love Poressional - I'm on my third bottle - it only lasts slightly longer than Instablur, so save yourself £10 and but Instablur instead would be my advice!

Benefit's Stay Flawless Primer is the primer here that I don't love so much. I tried it loads, I desperately wanted to love it, but it just wasn't too be. I found although it did keep my makeup on for longer, it made it cakey and looking pretty streaky, so I stopped wearing this one pretty swiftly. Maybe I'm just applying it wrong, who knows - let me know if you love it!

My final, new, addition is Nivea for Men's Post Shave Balm. A weird choice, yes, but everyone has been loving this - including Kylie Jenner's make up artist, so I thought I'd try it out.
I am surprisingly loving this primer. At £5 for 100ml it's by far the best value for money, and I like the masculine-y scent it's got! It's a great primer, and keeps my makeup looking fresh for longer without making it streaky. A great new addition!

I'm always on the look out for new makeup, so what primer would you suggest?

Lush's Intergalactic Bath Bomb

Hey guys!
So anyone who's been reading my blog for a while will know just how much I love Lush bath bombs. And Lush in general actually. It occurred to me that I hadn't done a review of my FAVOURITE Lush bath bomb yet, so today that's changed...

I apologise for the mass of photos BUT HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THIS BATH BOMB.

Intergalactic smells of a mixture of peppermint and grapefruit, which is invigorating and awakens the sense as soon as it hits the bath water. The smell is beautiful, but the real magic comes when you pop it into your bath. The colours are mesmerising and I find myself staring at it fizz every time I use it. The colours are beautiful and it leaves the bath the most beautiful shade of blue, making me feel like a space mermaid - a great feeling.

There is one aspect of this ballistic that divides opinion, however. That is glitter. The bath bomb is FULL of it. When you leave the bath you will have a layer of glitter on you, and you will need to rinse your bath of it. When I brushed my hair afterwards, specks of glitter floated out of my hair. It was glorious. I love glitter, so this is not even a slight problem for me, but if you hate glitter, I recommend that you avoid this.

Have you tried this? What's your favourite bath bomb?

Review: Ever Glaze Nail Polish

So China Glaze have released a new range of nail polishes called Ever Glaze, promising to provide a gel like shine without the hassle of a UV light, and I was lucky enough to try them out*!

The Ever Glaze range has lots of colours - 24! - but I tried 'We Be Jammin'  - a muted lilac, 'Current Crush' - a yellow-toned blue, and 'Pretty Poppy' - a coral red.

China Glaze promise the polishes will be long-lasting and extremely durable, whilst being shiny and cheaper than a normal gel manicure. It's certainly cheaper with the RRP being £8.99!

So when using Ever Glaze, you're meant to start with the 'nail prep' before painting two coats of your chosen colour and then finishing off with their 'active top coat'.

I didn't have the base or top coat, so I used Seche Vite as my top coat. I think this made a difference. The colours were nice, and all three were opaque and even in two coats which I was pleased with. They dried quicker than a lot of polishes I've used to, which was great because I'm very impatient when it comes to polish!

However, I found that all three polishes started chipping within 24 hours, which was less than ideal. This is probably because I didn't use the top coat, which is my own fault!

I'd recommend this range of polishes, but I would suggest that you certainly buy the top coat as well when purchasing, as without it the polish doesn't last too long.

Have you tried this range? Let me know what you think!

*Disclaimer, I was fortunate enough to receive these polishes to review, however this doesn't change my opinion, as always. :)

Summer Nails - Coral

Finally, the sun is out! And as such, it's time that my names match my summery outfits. Gone are the pretty pastels and in are the bright, summery colours. Here are my choice of orange-y/corals!

20160507_201530-1
20160507_201330-1

Let's start with what's currently on my nails, Topshop's 'New Wave'. I always forget how great Topshop's polishes are until they're on my nails! This is a gorgeous bright colour that goes on smoothly and opaquely in two coats!

Talking of bright colours, Model's Own Hed Kandi Collection in Hedonist is most certainly the brightest polish in my collection. It's a very true coral colour, and it's very neon! If you like bright colours, I recommend this wholeheartedly!

My orange choice is Barry M's Gelly Nail Paint in Mango. I love the Gelly colours from Barry M and this is no exception, it's a lovely orange that goes on smoothly and looks great with a tan...not that I'd know, as I never tan ;)

Next up is two more red choices, Rimmel's Salon Pro in Hip Hop and their 60 Second Polish in 'Orgasm'. (Who chooses nail polish names?) I'm sure everyone who wears nail polish has tried Rimmel, and they're a great high street brand, well priced and good quality. Both opaque in two coats and last a few days without chipping!

So I'm now going to go out and enjoy the sun whilst it's here!
What's your go-to summer polish colour?

April Favourites!

Hey guys, here are this month's favourites! A few days late this month, I've had a manic few weeks!

2016-05-02_07-21-45

Garnier's Micellar Water - I posted a review of this a few weeks ago and I am still loving it, I got a 'travel-sized' version of this which by this point is about half full, looks like I'll be buying a new one soon!

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner - an oldie but a goodie! I go through periods where I don't wear eyeliner, but I go back to it this is always the pot I return to, I love it and it lasts all day.

Avon Nail Polish in Naked Truth - my current go-to nude polish. I have lots of Avon polishes I'm loving atm, expect a post soon.

Clearasil Rapid Action Treatment Cream - A great deal of stress has left my skin looking terrible and very spotty this month, and this cream is helping out SO much!

Vera Wang Princess Perfume - My new favourite perfume, this scent is gorgeous and floral and perfect for Spring*.

*...That's if we had a damn Spring!

What's on your monthly favourites?
